When there was another lockdown announced this winter i focused on what was bringing me joy. It was cold and the days short but every day I noticed the birds flying around looking for food. I was encouraged to hang up more bird feeders and buy food that they really liked such as sunflower hearts and meal worms.
Knowing that the schools were closed I decided to develop a series of short 30 minute painting bird classes for children to help lift the children's mood and learn more about our feathered friends. Children joined from a diversity of backgrounds such as Chinese, Salvadorian and English living in Britain and the Netherlands. We started off with the robin that in the UK many children could spot hopping around by paths looking for food.
